We cover the dense, layered area between the M8 and Queen Street — home to Blythswood Square, the financial district, Central Station, the River Clyde. A district where thousands of people who live, work and pass through every day.
As a statutory Community Council, we have a right to be consulted on planning, licensing and policy decisions that affect our area. We amplify the voices of those who use this city.

About the council
Blythswood & Broomielaw Community Council is the statutory community council for Glasgow's city centre. It is consulted on planning, licensing and policy decisions affecting the area, and represents the people who live, work and travel through it.
It is part of the Anderston/City/Yorkhill Area Partnership, under the Glasgow Community Planning Partnership. The council is run by its elected members and office bearers (Chair, Secretary, Treasurer). Reach any of them at info@bbcc.scot.

What We're Working On
Local Place Plan
We have developed a community-led spatial vision for Blythswood & Broomielaw — shaping how the area grows over the next decade. This has been certified and published by Glasgow City Council; please have a look.
Taking Back Our Lanes
Our district has 30 private lanes trapped in fragmented ownership structures — preventing coordinated maintenance, lighting, or improvement. We are campaigning for Glasgow City Council to take statutory ownership and management responsibility, to create a coherent public realm.
Mapping Street Trees
A community tree audit of every street tree in our area — building evidence for protecting and expanding the canopy.
Union Corner
Advocating for the sensitive redevelopment of Glasgow City Centre, we campaign for spaces in transition like the Union Street / Argyle Street corner. We will always lobby for more open and green spaces in our area.
Backing Venues
Supporting Glasgow's grassroots music and arts venues to protect the city's legacy as a cultural capital and UNESCO city of music; whilst promoting an environment to nurture the next generation of talent.

Working Together Across Glasgow
Through the Joint Action Group (JAG), we team up with neighbouring community councils to channel community voices directly to Glasgow City Council — because some challenges can only be solved together.
